Greetings and Happy New Year! Between all the holiday stuff the last few weeks, plus all the writing I’ve been doing, I feel like I’ve been a tad neglectful of my blog lately. Hopefully, now that the holiday season is over, I’ll find more time to write some fun posts.
I mentioned back in November that I had already reached my goal of 40 books for my Goodreads challenge. By the end of the year I managed to complete 45 books. (I’m currently in the middle of two others, but I’m not counting those, since I haven’t finished them.) Check out all the books I completed last year:
Aren’t they beautiful?
For 2019, my goal is to read 47 books. Realistically, I know that I can probably squeeze in a few more than that, but I don’t want to set the bar too high and stress myself out.
As of right now, I don’t have any other reading goals set for myself or the blog. The biggest goal I’m focused on is getting the first draft of my book done…which it almost is. 🙂
What kinds of goals are you setting for yourself and/or your blog this year?
I just love seeing all your books like that! We read a lot of the same books. I’m excited to see what’s in store for 2019!

First draft almost done?? Exciting times! What will be next? Right into editing or leaving it alone for a few weeks before taking a pass?

I have no idea. I know I should probably step away wait a few weeks before editing, but that feels like a long time. 😝

It does feel like a long time, but it kind of makes you forget everything you wrote. When you finally do get back to it, it’s like you’re reading someone else’s work. Myself, I wait 6 weeks minimum. During that time, I’ll write a draft of something else or bang out some short stories that have been on my mind.

That’s a good idea. Maybe I’ll just start drafting the sequel while I wait. I’m so impatient, I’m terrible at waiting for things, haha.

I know. It’s awful. There’s a ton of waiting in this game. Just wait. If you ever get to the point where you’re sending agent query letters, you send off an email and wait like a month just to get a response, which (in my personal experience) is always a ‘no thanks!’

Thank you! It’ll be more exciting when I finally finish, but I’m still pretty excited about it right now. 🙂
