First Impression Friday: A Darker Shade of Magic

It’s Friday, at last! In honor of the end of the working week, J.W. Martin @ Storeys of Stories  started a new meme: First Impression Friday. The goal is to talk about whichever book you currently started reading – what your thoughts are early on, what your predictions are, etc.

For the first FIF I’m going to talk about A Darker Shade of Magic. Practically everyone and their mother has read this one already, so just humor me, if you will.

I’m only about 60 pages into ADSOM, but so far I am intrigued. Kell seems like a very interesting main character, even though I we don’t know a whole lot about him yet. You can tell there are definitely some tricks and unexpected things up his sleeve. I’m also really digging the concept of three different Londons. I’m not really sure what to expect yet. I’m thinking that some kind of magic will escape one London and fall into the wrong hands or be used to wreak havoc on the other Londons. I picture Kell having some sort of badass sidekick, as well, but maybe not at first because he seems like a loner.

I’m expecting good things! (After all the hype surrounding this book I sure hope it’s going to be good, anyway.)

A Darker Shade final for Irene

Are you going to be taking part in First Impression Friday?

  1. YAY!! Thank you SO much for taking part, and so quickly! I didn’t expect any participation until next week at the earliest.

If you makes you feel any better, I haven’t read ADSOM yet, and neither has my mother. But it’s on my 2018 TBR. So I will! Maybe it’ll even show up in the future FIF!! Thanks again! You’re the best!

    1. Any time! I love doing new memes and tags. It’s fun! (Especially when I don’t have anything else to post, haha.) I was reading the book last night and was thinking “Wow, this seems like it’s going to be really good,” so this gave me the perfect chance to talk about it. 🙂

  2. I haven’t read it yet either, it is on my TBR pile and has been forever. For some reason I haven’t got around to any of Schwab’s books! Ahhhh! I’m glad you are intrigued and I’ll have to revisit this post when I get to the book myself! 😀 HAPPY FRIDAY! TGIF!
