TTT: Favorite Book Quotes

toptentuesday

It’s time for Top Ten Tuesday again! (TTT is hosted weekly by That Artsy Reader Girl. Check out her site to see what the theme for each week is.)

This week’s theme is “Favorite Book Quotes.” This feels like an easy one, given that there are so many amazing book quotes out there. The hardest part is narrowing it down to only ten.

“You’re always you, and that don’t change, and you’re always changing, and there’s nothing you can do about it.” ― Neil Gaiman, The Graveyard Book

“There are good days and hard days for me—even now. Don’t let the hard days win.” ― Sarah J. Maas, A Court of Mist and Fury

“I am no bird; and no net ensnares me: I am a free human being with an independent will.” ― Charlotte Brontë, Jane Eyre

“It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.” ― J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

“Why do people have to be this lonely? What’s the point of it all? Millions of people in this world, all of them yearning, looking to others to satisfy them, yet isolating themselves. Why? Was the earth put here just to nourish human loneliness?”
— Haruki Murakami, Sputnik Sweetheart

“The fool doth think he is wise, but the wise man knows himself to be a fool.”
― William Shakespeare, As You Like It

“Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.”
― Neil Gaiman, Coraline

“… a mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge.”
— George R.R. Martin (A Song of Ice and Fire)

“The moment you doubt whether you can fly, you cease for ever to be able to do it.”
― J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan

She generally gave herself very good advice, (though she very seldom followed it).”
― Lewis Carroll, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland
